The classics are alive and well with Snake being a nice nostalgia trip. Snake - Simple Retro Game is a 2D arcade game with simple goals and simple controls. You are a hungry Snake that never stops moving and never stops eating. With every piece of food you eat, the Snake grows by one square unit. The objective is to eat as many pieces of food as possible without letting the Snake crash into itself.

How to Play Snake - Simple Retro Game

Snake has a constant momentum and will always move in a straight line in whichever direction it is facing. It will automatically collect food by running into it and if it hits the edge of the screen, it will emerge from the opposite side. The only danger is if the Snake runs into its own body which instantly ends the game. The onscreen Arrow controls can be used by clicking on them with the mouse, causing the Snake to make an instant 90-degree turn. However, the Snake can't go against its current direction nor can it speed up. The game also has the following keyboard control scheme:

Up: W or Up Arrow
Down: S or Down Arrow
Left: A or Left Arrow
Right: D or Right Arrow
Pause/Menu: Esc

If you're playing on a Mobile platform, the game can use Swipe controls and you swipe in the direction that you want the Snake to turn.

Snake - Simple Retro Game Themes

As a testament to your skill, you can unlock additional themes for the game using the coins you earn. Each piece of food you collect nets you one coin so you'll have to do some grinding if you want to unlock them all. You start with the Classic Theme but can purchase the following:

Retro Theme: 200 Coins
Snake on Steroids Theme: 600 Coins
Snake Master Theme: 1200 Coins
